Oh, I wouldn’t go that far yet! It probably looks worse in that photo than it really is. And it’s not the best photo because I had to zoom in quite a bit. It’s not broken or cracked as far as I could tell; it’s just bent.
I’m not sure what material the tip is made of; but if it’s aluminum then I suggest taking it down and gently bending it back. I made several QSOs with it; it clearly still works (as good as before). But it’s unsightly, yes. And the radiation pattern may be a little off-center now. 🙂
Yes it does look worse in the picture than it is. I am also pretty sure that it can be straightened out as long as the tubing did not get crimped at the bend. It is a little windy today to take it down by my self.

Luckily there is another one at the hospital for a replacement. Tomorrow it will be installed.
