The meeting was called to order around 7:30 PM.
Attending: Dave WA6YJW, Jim AB5JK, Oscar KG5ULB and Erik K5WW. Jason KS5TX checked in remotely; until K5WW demonstrated that he can break every radio.
There wasn’t much official business to take care of but new member Oscar had lots of questions and got a whole lot of information about digital modes.
The meeting was adjourned around 8 PM, after which we all moved to the CARC shack to give Oscar the tour of it and to demonstrate some FT8 QSOs.
We need more VEs in September, please!
August 22, 7 PM. You should join us, really!
Mr. Oscar Lechuga, assigned KG5ULB, not even 8 days after passing the Technician test!
Congratulations!! ๐
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.
Attending: Mary KU5Z, Mr. Oscar Lechuga, Richard N5YPJ and Erik K5WW.
We briefly discussed our participation in Field Day; for a recap see this post.
Also discussed was our participation in the TX State Parks on the Air event. KC5LL emailed the results today (7/25/2017) and we did pretty good: second place!
Keep spreading the word about this fun event. The organizers could really use a few more participants ๐
While the official meeting itself was quite sort; we did have a long and successful license exam session. Mr. Oscar Lechuga traveled countless miles to take the Technician test – and he passed!
Congratulations! Oscar also took the General test but missed it by one point. One! Don’t you just hate it when that happens??? But he’s going to pass that test in August, easily.
The meeting was adJourneyd at 9:00 PM. I hate autocorrect.
(Gentlemen, Ladies: it’s time to fire up your keyboards again! Please act NOW.)
Dear ARRL member,
I am writing to you today because we are at a crossroad in our efforts to obtain passage of The Amateur Radio Parity Act.
Our legislative efforts scored a major victory in our campaign when The Amateur Radio Parity Act, S. 1534 now moves to the Senate, where we need every Senator to approve the bill. This is the companion Bill to H.R. 555, which passed in the House of Representatives in January.
You are one of over 730,000 licensed Amateur Radio Operators living in the United States. Many of you already live in deed-restricted communities, and that number grows daily.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL HAMS TO GET INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS!
โข If you want to have effective outdoor antennas but are not currently allowed to do so by your Home Ownerโs Association, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!
โข If you already have outdoor antennas, but want to support your fellow hams, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!
โข If you want to preserve your ability to install effective outdoor antennas on property that you own, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!
We need you to reach out to your Senators TODAY! Right away.
Help us in the effort. Please go to this linked website and follow the prompts:

Thank you.

Rick

We’ll need lots of VEs for the July meeting. July 25, 7 PM. You’re invited!
And we’re happy it is! The grass stains, rattle snakes, mosquito bites and sunburn, mud in our socks and flies in our food, bah! Who wouldn’t get tired of that! ๐
But it was fun, anyway. We were pleasantly surprised by a brand new A/C unit, donated by a very early Santa Claus and installed by him and his handy helper. Thanks fellas!
In no particular order, other than almost alphabetically, KU5Z, AB5JK, K5QOW, K5WW, KS5TX, N5YPJ and WW5XX made sure that a fabulous time was had by all. We logged 184 QSOs in 59 ARRL Sections and even a few DX and a few on 6 meters. And for all that we only needed 1 generator swap! ๐
Those who stayed long enough and weren’t afraid to work for their food were rewarded by pizza! Santa Claus just didn’t want to leave!
Nobody took any pictures, seriously???
Greetings!
The annual ARRL Field Day is coming soon. This year’s event will be held June 24 and 25th.
Join us at our private beach, right in front of the shack. There will be sand, trees, food and drink. And even a few hula dancers, if we can reserve them in time. And for those who are really crazy about Field Day: there will be generator fumes. ๐
Bring your sandals!
The meeting was called to order at 7:25 PM. Dang Secretary is always late…
Attending: Mary KU5Z, Jim AB5JK, Erik K5WW.
Jim tried to demonstrate a new Raspberry Pi3/DMR project he’d been working on for a while, and is now complete; but the Murphy of the internet didn’t agree. It helps to have a good internet connection; which wasn’t the case today. Better luck next time.
The Treasurer was absent; rumor has it he was last seen on some tropical island. Totally unexpected; more news next month – hopefully.
Of course all the talk was about Field Day. It’s gonna be big, huge! Sandy beach, palm trees, hula dancers, food and refreshments all courtesy of the former President. Or is that current President? Confusing…
Y’all come. We even got validated parking and stuff! ๐
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
