Lots of goodies! See our For Sale page at http://coyotearc.net/index.php/for-sale-wanted-free/
Attending: Jim AB5JK, Dave WA6YJW, Jason KS5TX (via EchoLink) and Erik K5WW.
We welcome new member John KG5ZTH to the club. He moved down from a higher latitude to live closer to his family and to enjoy the warmer climate. Warm enough yet, John? 😉
The Treasurer reports that thanks to new membership dues received and a few very generous donations our freshly washed sock now contains $1,579. New radio coming soon! 🙂
Due to the Secretary overheating that was all the minutes that were minuted. Better luck and cooler heads next month…
The meeting was adjourned at 8:26 PM UMH time.
Field Day 2018 is over. Well, technically speaking it’s not. Yet. But it is for us.
Participating: Mary KU5Z, Jason KS5TX, Jim AB5JK and Erik K5WW. A quick visit by Charlie/Charles, who is interested in getting a license after acquiring some free (and classic!) equipment; but who was on the road with his family so couldn’t stay long.
The horrible electric noise is back at the shack and the conditions “kinda” sucked; so the number of QSOs was limited. Time to call AEP – again. But we did our best, handing out 2D STX in CW, SSB and RTTY on several bands, including 1 QSO on 6 meters with Dan K1TO, thanks to his always booming signal!
Hmmmm… So many RTTY QSOs. I wonder why?
Good fun, good company, good food, good fun. What more could we have wished for? Nothing!
Thanks to all who attended, and wanted to attend. See y’all next year – or sooner!
The meeting was called to order at 7:19 PM.
Attending: Jim AB5JK, Doug KC5TRQ, William KG5ZTN, Dave WA6YJW and Erik K5WW.
Both Doug and William joined the club tonight. Doug also enlisted his son Ryan KF5MPR. Welcome, and thank you gents! Now we can buy hotdogs for Field Day 🙂
Doug and William had lots of questions, which we tried to answer. Both are relatively new to the hobby; so we hope they show up many more times – with many more questions!
Jim reported an issue he observed a while ago with our 2 meter transmissions, which sparked suspicions of possible repeater antenna damage.
The Treasurer reports there’s currently $1269 in our sweaty sock. With a little bit of luck and some anti-fungal cream maybe that amount will be higher next month. 😉
The sit-down portion of the meeting was adjourned around 8.15 PM, after which all attendees moved to the club shack for an introduction to the hardware and a quick demonstration of FT8 on 6 meters with the new members (well, 2 out of 3).
We also checked out the 2 meter repeater’s coax. Seems fine; but the problem may be intermittent so further investigation is needed…
KN5S-1 and KN5S-in-a-box have been fully updated and are ready for Field Day 2018.
All they need are a few good operators 🙂
The annual pre-Field Day meeting will June 19th at 7 PM. If you have any last minute bright ideas for Field Day please bring them with you! 🙂
Not too many members around!
KU5Z and K5WW had excused themselves due to a medical trip to San Antonio.
WA6YJW was minutes away from the meeting site when he was called back home for an urgent issue.
But: President AB5JK waited in the parking lot anyway, just in case someone would show up.
Next meeting’s in June. The 19th (also known as Juneteenth, in some circles), to discuss last minute details for Field Day. Woohoo!
It’s now or never…
Nope, not going Elvis Presley on you. And not asking you to “come hold me tight”, either.
But! The May meeting is coming up. 22nd. Of May 2018, yes. That’s two days from now! And with all the Field Day planning to be done you just have to be there. Or have no fun at all 😉
